Mangeruda Hot Springs, Island of Flores, Indonesia – Healing Baths
How would you like to sit down under a hot water fall and let the warm water rush around your body? It is a rare pleasure worthy of seeking out and one I found on the island of Flores in Indonesia.
Indonesia has a lot to offer for hot springs enthusiasts, the largest archipelago in the world offers a vast array of volcanic activity ancient and new. This activity has formed hundreds of natural hot springs, many of which are complimented with incredible infrastructure like the BALI, but more common are the barely accessible small pools of hot water frequented primarily by locals.
Mengurada Hot Springs exists somewhere in the middle. A small natural hot spring river with several flows gushing from Mount Inelika organized into a family friendly park of pools of varying heat.
Locals call the park Soa, the hot springs have been a sacred natural wonder for Indonesian Floridians to come and partake in the healing waters generated from Gunung Inelika.
Mengurada’s temperature and rich volcanic mineral content is known throughout the island as providing medical remedies for skin and muscular issues.
In the park, there are several scalable rock water falls to climb around on and find little nooks to sit in as the hot mineral water gushes around your body.
An all encompassing experience of relaxation and a highly recommended stop while in Flores.
Of the several soaking pools located throughout the park, the unique experience of sitting and wading under the hot water rapids is an unforgettable feeling.
